Homelessness Workshop (Years 9–12)

Students will explore the realities of homelessness in Australia. Through real-life stories and hands-on activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of how people navigate the experience, the complex challenges and the support that is needed.

Homelessness City Tour (Years 9–12)

Years 9-12
This workshop combines the Homelessness Workshop with an additional immersive tour experience. It powerfully asks students to consider the realities of homelessness by visiting locations and hearing stories of real-life experiences. Students will leave educated and empowered to respond to homelessness with compassion and equipped to advocate for social change.

Leaders of Change (Secondary School)

Years 9-12
The Leaders of Change workshop invites secondary school students to dive into Australia’s most significant social justice concerns, and plan a project designed to make a positive impact in their local communities.

Community and Caring
PRIMARY
Early childhood – Year 4
It is never too young to learn about the impact that kindness and compassion can have in the community.

Financial Hardship
SECONDARY
Years 9-12
Explore the concept and complexities of poverty in Australia through a character life simulation. This workshop sparks meaningful discussions about experiences of financial change and hardship in Australia. It challenges stereotypes while encouraging compassion and an understanding of some of the barriers community members can face. It also highlights the support available through The Salvation Army.

The Salvos Response

Years 5-6
Students are introduced to the work of The Salvation Army in Australia and are inspired to recognise their ability to make a social justice impact.

Take Action with The Salvos
SECONDARY
Years 7-8
Introduce your students to the work of The Salvation Army in Australia while empowering them to undertake a community project alongside the Salvos.

Leaders of Change Workshop (Senior Primary)

Students are supported to plan a project that could make a positive impact in their local communities.

Students will explore the realities of homelessness in Australia, learn how the Salvos is responding and discover how they can make a difference toward ending homelessness.

SECONDARY
Years 7-8
Students will explore the different experiences of homelessness in Australia, discussing and unpacking common misconceptions that exist. They will learn what can be done to address homelessness and how they can respond as individuals and as a school community.

James' Story

James’s Story – Financial Hardship in Australia
Grounded in the story of James, students will explore the concept and experiences of poverty in Australia. The workshop outlines the support that The Salvation Army provides and how the organisation fights for justice to ensure that no one is left in need.
