Legal services
We believe that no one should be without a trusted legal advisor in their time of need. That’s why Salvos Legal provides free legal advice and representation to people who are unable to access legal assistance through other services.
Accessing our free legal services
We can provide free legal advice or full representation in the following areas:
- Migration and refugee law
- Police matters
- Family and children’s law
- Human rights and public interest law
We can also assist with referrals to other legal services.
Covid-19 update
Due to COVID-19 we have replaced most of our face-to-face Advice Bureau services in NSW with a telephone advice service until further notice. We continue to operate our free, face-to-face legal service every Tuesday at Lakemba Senior Citizen’s Centre, corner The Boulevarde and Croydon Street, Lakemba from 9:30am until 5pm (last appointment at 4pm).
Appointments are preferred for our telephone and Lakemba advice services so we can manage our resources to provide the best service possible, and remain COVID-safe.
Our telephone advice service is available Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 9:30am–5pm. Please email enquiries@salvoslegal.com.au with details of your legal issue or call/leave a message on (02) 8202 1500. One of our staff will contact you to discuss your legal issue and book you an appointment with one of our lawyers.
Sadly, due to limitations on our service as a result of COVID-19, our Queensland Advice Bureaus are now closed. If you need legal assistance in Queensland please contact Legal Aid Queensland or Community Legal Centres Queensland.
