In times of need - care for the elderly

In 1924, The Salvation Army purchased a grand old home on the corner of Shaftesbury Road and Belmore Street in Burwood. Named “The Repose”, it was one of the first Salvation Army homes for senior citizens. In 1965, new units were built in the front grounds and the old home was finally closed and demolished in 1971. Today, The Salvation Army still operates a retirement village on the site.
