In times of need

It’s often said that The Salvation Army has a ministry of “presence” – of being there in times of need.

When a cyclone hit the Redcliffe peninsula on New Year’s Eve in 1963, The Salvation Army swung into action, with Captain Violet Brown and Envoy Norah Moffatt offering shelter in The Salvation Army hall to holiday-makers who had been camping nearby. They also visited many homes in the area to make sure people were safe and to offer assistance. Today, the Redcliffe Salvation Army maintains a trained Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) team that is ready to respond to emergencies and disasters.
