Maitland's greats: Noeleen Milburn

Noeleen Milburn with husbandNoeleen Milburn (pictured right with her husband) grew up in The Salvation Army after her alcoholic father was converted at the drum during an open-air meeting. During her child-rearing years Noeleen and her husband fostered many children. After the children had grown up, Noeleen says: I decided that I need to do something else to help other people. So she and her husband joined the Maitland Salvation Army Emergency Services team, helping to comfort and provide food for people during times of disaster. We have seen a lot and been to a lot of places during times of devastation and been able to help people and speak to them when they were at their lowest, she says. Two years ago Noeleen also became the welfare officer for Maitland Salvation Army. In this role she is able to assist members of the community who need goods and food in order to make ends meet. It is so rewarding to see people when you give them these things with no conditions attached, she says. I feel that the Lord has placed me just where he needs me.
