Did you know that The Salvation Amy in Lithgow at one stage held the record for its religious broadcasting? Early in 1941, the then Lithgow Salvation Army officer, Captain Gordon Peterson, began the “Friendly Fellowship” radio session on local station 2LT. The Lithgow Salvation Army history book notes that This half-hour weekly session … created a record of religious broadcasting having at the present (March 1963) given 1140 continuous sessions.
