Pledging love and solidarity after Bondi tragedy
15 December 2025
The tragic events at Bondi Beach on Sunday 14 December have left us all shaken. We honour the people who lost their lives, and we stand united to pray for those whose lives have been forever changed. We pray for families grieving, for first responders, communities torn apart, and our nation.
“We especially hold our Jewish brothers and sisters in prayer and compassion,” says Australian Territorial Commander, Commissioner Miriam Gluyas. “In this time of anguish, we stand alongside you with love and solidarity. May you feel the embrace of community, the strength of faith, and the assurance that you are not alone.”
Even in the darkest times, God’s love remains, and hope is not destroyed. May all Australians, and those beyond our shores, feel his loving comfort and know that you are not alone.
We can take comfort from the Scripture in Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (NIV).
During this time of national anguish, every act of kindness, every prayer whispered and every hand extended in care is a way of pushing back against despair. Together, we bear witness to love, peace and compassion.
