The Salvation Army Responds to Bushfires in Western Victoria

11 January 2013

The Salvation Army is currently on the ground near Ballarat providing care and support to fire fighters, volunteers and victims of the fire spreading through the Snake Valley region and other areas of Western Victoria. Emergency services staff and volunteers in the area have attended six incidences to provide support in the last two weeks.

Teams are currently providing meals to the many fire fighters and volunteers attending to the Snake Valley fire, while some team members are based at the relief centre in Wendouree, providing material aid support in the form of bedding, clothing and other essential items to residents affected by the fires.

Salvation Army staff and volunteers are still hard at work providing support to Tasmanians affected by severe bushfires.

Those wishing to support The Salvation Army and the Disaster Relief Appeal are encouraged to contact 13 SALVOS (13 72 58) or visit www.salvationarmy.org.au
