Newcrest Mining run to support creative opportunities

22 August 2012

On Wednesday the 22nd of August, staff members from Newcrest Mining visited Creative Opportunities to present a cheque for $6,000, which matched the sum of staff fundraising efforts in the Run Melbourne event.

For over three years, Newcrest Mining have supported Creative Opportunities program - an Australian Disability Enterprise that seeks to provide meaningful employment and training opportunities to people with disabilities through a viable and sustainable community business.

The team of 42 runners ran distances of up to 26km and twelve of these runners joined the celebration with Creative Opportunities Staff and Salvation Army representatives. General Manager ExCo Coordination and Projects Daryl Corp presented a cheque to Creative Opportunities Manager Alex Straubinger in an afternoon tea event.

Captain Catherine Garcia presented water bottles to the group for their future running efforts, and explained the value and appreciation for the money and how it would help the services in Brunswick.

The Salvation Army would like to express a sincere thank you to Newcrest Mining and their generous support of the Brunswick Community Services and Creative Opportunities Program.
