Linsell Lodge Aged Care at Angle Park [SA] is an 80 bed Salvation Army facility which caters for disadvantaged residents who have limited financial means. Residents have individual rooms with ensuites and there are several lounge areas and a café where residents can sit with their loved ones and spend time together.
Last year it was identified that whilst there were outside courtyards and grassed areas these were generally uninviting and were seldom used. The facility with the generous aid of Legacy (bequest) funds contracted a local garden landscaper and developed a stunning outside area for residents and their families to enjoy.
Footpaths were widened for wheelchair use and plantings included perfumed and colourful plants and several seating areas were added to allow people to sit and enjoy the garden to its fullest.
Residents and their families and friends use the garden daily, either in groups or as couples, many take their afternoon tea outside and the activity staff frequently organize a game of cards or secret men’s business under the shady gazebo.
Without the amazing support of people through Legacy funds this transformation from an empty paddock to a place where residents can sit and enjoy fresh air, peace and community would not be possible. The residents, staff and volunteers sincerely appreciate the generous support which has made this possible.
