Gender and age range

A total of 2,485 surveys were received. Non-response rates for each question is generally low and will be stated in each chart (1). The majority of respondents were women, representing 62% of the total (Chart 1). The majority of respondents were of working age, with 83% aged between 25 and 60 years of age (Chart 2). This is a similar profile to that detailed in the ESIS 2012 and 2013 reports.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

Fifteen per cent of the cohort identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders (Chart 3), which is significantly higher compare to the proportion of the Indigenous population in Australia (3%).(2)

The areas in which I live

The majority of respondents live in metropolitan suburbs (47%) and almost a quarter resided in major regional centres (23%). Twenty per cent lived in country towns and 4 per cent in remote areas (Chart 4).
