Australia's first cheeseburger soup that tastes good and does good
25 July 2017
Available for one day only exclusively on Deliveroo
Melbourne’s burger scene is flippin out with the launch of Australia’s first hunger-fighting Cheeseburger Soup available on Monday 31st July.
For one day only, the juicy creation is being released by Jimmy Hurlston, of Jimmy’s Burgers and Easey’s, to support the work of The Salvation Army in helping struggling Aussies living on less than $17 per day. The hunger fighting soup can be purchased via Australia’s favourite on-demand food delivery service, Deliveroo.
The souperb creation is a take on a diner classic and will be available for just $10.00, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Salvos community programs.
“It’s a pretty unique way to keep warm and still enjoy the richness of a burger,” Hurlston muses. “We wanted to create an authentic cheeseburger taste and experimented with a french onion soup base packed with rich ground beef, Frenchy’s yellow mustard, pickles and cheese…lots of cheese. It’s a special soup for a special cause and we can’t wait to see the response.”
“The burger scene has been pumping for some time now and Melburnians have always been quick to try the newest trends and flavour combos. A soup spin on the cheesy classic is a wonderfully bizarre concept and one we think will be well received.”
The Cheeseburger Soup is being launched as part of Be A Souperhero, a fundraising initiative of The Salvation Army, which calls upon brave citizens to replace every meal with soup from Saturday 29th July to Friday 4th August, and raise much needed funds for Aussies in need.
Salvation Army spokesperson, Brian Hallett explained “Soup is often the unsung hero for families during these difficult times because it’s inexpensive and quick to make. By purchasing a Cheeseburger Soup or registering to Be A Souperhero, ordinary Aussies can make an extraordinary difference to the lives of others.”
An army of Deliveroo riders will travel around Melbourne’s CBD and surrounding neighbourhoods to deliver up to 500 cheeseburger soups to help change the world one bowl of soup at a time.
