Melton Kitchen Rules

29th September

Over the last few weeks, the young people at Westcare's Melton Foster Care have been participating in the Melton Kitchen Rules program.

The weekly activity, run by Sally Gilbert, has been successful in bringing young people together.

Five kids participated in the program, where they learned how to make delicious deserts and savoury treats.

For the last day of Melton Kitchen Rules, the group cooked up a feast for their carers to enjoy- where they revelled in the opportunity to show off the skills they had mastered.

Carers delighted in the meals prepared by the kids and unsurprisingly- there was hardly anything left by the end!

The program comes after Sally's successful Art Attack program

Melton Kitchen Rules will return in a few weeks for young people 10 years and younger.

Below: Melton Kitchen Rules' final session

During the Melton Kitchen Rules program, young people had a hands-on experience cooking delicious meals. For their final activity day, they prepared these delicious meals for their carers:

  • Dumplings
  • Kebabs
  • Arancini balls
  • Chocolate chip muffins
  • Orange & chocolate mousse
  • Chocolate cake
  • Vanilla cake
