Major Tracey English from The Salvation Army’s Melbourne Central Division installed Lieutenant Robert Champion as the Chaplain at Westcare in a ceremony this morning.
Rob will be joining Westcare as Chaplain after Captain Nigel Platts was reassigned to ‘The Open Door Program’ in North Melbourne after spending 7 years with Westcare.
The installation acknowledged The Salvation Army’s Mission and Values; human dignity, justice, hope, compassion and community.
During the service, Rob’s son, Jamie, joined in the installation by holding The Salvation Army Flag.
Westcare highly values the role of Chaplaincy. As well as providing prayer and religious guidance, the role offers support through counselling, friendship and advocacy to staff, volunteers and clients. Westcare is thrilled to have Rob as a part of the team.
