Hi Parramatta Salvos, 

This week, we conclude our series "Foundations", exploring our history and DNA as a worldwide movement. This week we take a look at our Values across the Salvation Army in Australia. 

Please note that due to our corps retreat next weekend, there will be no Sunday services at Parramatta Salvos on Sunday 2 July.

Ladies Fellowship
This Wednesday 28 June we will be led by Major Beverley Mole and we will be 'Celebrating Birthdays'.
All women are invited to join together at 10am for morning tea, followed by the meeting at 10.30am 

The Sanctuary Course is Back!
How can a church become a sanctuary—a place where individuals living with mental health challenges feel safe, supported, and a sense of belonging? The Sanctuary Course was created to inspire and equip communities of faith that are asking this important question. Developed in consultation with mental health professionals, theologians, and people with lived experience, this eight-session study guide explores key mental health topics and examines meaningful ways to offer companionship, support recovery, and promote wellbeing.

The Sanctuary Course is for anyone who wants to learn about faith and mental health. It requires no previous training or expertise—just a willingness to engage in dialogue with other believers. This course and films address difficult and sensitive topics, and may not be appropriate for a young audience. It is not recommended for people ages 17 and younger.

This course will take place at Parramatta Salvos (426 Church Street, Parramatta) from 19 July-6 September on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm. Supper will be provided for a gold coin donation each week. Parking is available in our undercover car park (entry via Grose Street).

Corps Retreat 2023
We are so excited to be gathering next weekend for our Corps Retreat. All info has been emailed this week, and an update on bedding and linen requirements will come next week. If you have any concerns, please contact Sarah or Kylie. Don't forget, there is no Sunday worship at 426 Church Street on Sunday 2 July. If you have not registered, but are interested in joining for the Sunday morning sessions on 2 July at The Tops, please reach out and we may be able to accomodate. 

Save the Date!
We have been given an exciting opportunity to partner with Grill'd Parramatta for one of our community nights! Grill'd will be hosting a trivia night, including a meal, on Sunday 27 August. More info will be available in the coming weeks, but we encourage you to save the date and invite your friends along!

Equip Youth Camp
Registrations are open for all teenagers (high school and above) for Equip Youth Camp. It's going to be a great week away in the Sept/Oct School Holidays, so make sure you get in and register as streams are filling up very quickly! Register here: https://tinyurl.com/equipsydney2023

Bands in the Round
Last Saturday the Parramatta Band participated in Bands in the Round at Maitland. They joined with the Melbourne Staff Band, Maitland Band and Sydney Congress Hall Band to provide an afternoon of worship. The afternoon was attended by over 300 people and raised money for The Salvation Army in Kenya.

Fundraising Update
With the 30 June approaching, we are pleased to let you know where we are currently placed with the 2023 Self Denial Appeal and Red Shield Appeal.

Self Denial Appeal
We are grateful to everyone who gave so generously to the international work of The Salvation Army through this appeal. We have currently raised $48,797 which is an outstanding result. We are aware that there are some recurring payments that still need to be credited to Parramatta and so we believe that we will reach our target of $50,000. An excellent result for which we thank God.

Red Shield Appeal
The Red Shield Appeal also concludes on 30 June but to date we have raised $24,642. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the appeal either by collecting, donating, setting up or counting. While we are down on last year, we recognise the current financial climate of Australia. Again, there are some more donations still coming which will be added to the total.

Once we have received the final figures we will provide a further update.
