Community Visitors are friends for older people.

This scheme is part of the Federal Government's initiatives to enhance the rights of older people living in residential aged care facilities.

A Community Visitor (volunteer) befriends a resident of an aged care facility who is considered to be lonely and who would benefit from having a special visitor.

The visitor receives helpful training before commencing to ‘visit' and then ongoing support from the Co-ordinator. The visitor sets aside time at least once a fortnight to visit. This is a minimum requirement. The effort expended by a Community Visitor could help an older person in an aged care facility to enjoy life to its full potential.

If you would like to know more about the scheme, or would be interested in becoming a visitor please make that phone call!
