Parramatters - 9th December 2022

Hi Parramatta Salvos, 

This Sunday is the second week of Advent, and we continue our series, 'Home for Christmas'. We invite you to join us at 9:30am or 11am as we prepare our hearts for the coming of the promised Messiah. 

This year, on Christmas Day, we will be holding one service at 9:30am, and we invite you to join us with your friends and family on Christmas morning.

Christmas Carols 
Our Christmas Carols are on this Sunday 11 December at 6pm. This concert will involve Timbrels, Mini God Squad, Ensemble, Band and our Christmas Choir! Make sure you plan to be there and invite your friends and family to come along. 

The concert will be followed by a light supper and all are invited to attend. 

We would love people to contribute to supper by bringing a plate to share. If you are able to provide some supper, please let Kylie know. 

Gift Card Offering
Each year, we help hundreds of people through our Christmas Cheer project. We get plenty of toys and food donated from the community, but the age group we always struggle with are teenagers. For the past few years, we have contributed over $4000 worth of gift cards from our church community and we would love to do this again in 2022. We will be taking up a gift card offering at our Christmas Carols event this Sunday 11 December at 6pm. We ask that you contribute gift cards of between $30-$50 that are appropriate for teenagers. Some examples include the Ultimate Kids or Teen Gift Cards, JB HiFi, Cotton On, EB Games or Rebel Sport. Please come prepared to give on Sunday 11 December, or drop your donations to the corps office any time. 

Street Carolling 
Join our brass band this Tuesday evening as we walk and spread some Christmas joy through music. All brass players are welcome - dust off those instruments and join us (please let David know).

All church members are invited to come and chat with community members and hand out Parramatta Salvos brochures and Christmas invitations.

Toy Sorting Event
Come along this coming Thursday evening and help to unwrap and sort out toys/Christmas items donated by our community. Join us in the Function Hall from 7pm-9pm Thursday 15 December. All welcome! 

Kids Church
This Sunday is the last Kids Church and Mini God Squad for 2022, and we will be having a party to celebrate Christmas and the fun year of learning about God.

Christmas with the Salvos
‘Christmas with the Salvos’ will air on Channel 7 and 7plus on Saturday 10 December at 12.00pm.

It will have encore screenings on Christmas Eve at 12pm and Christmas Day  at 11.30am. Tune in to watch watch the Salvos Christmas special this year!

Street Carolling
This week some of our bandsmen went street carolling in Balla Vista. We had a great time chatting with community members and spreading Christmas joy!

Collecting at Carlingford Court
Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to collect at Carlingford Court last week. We raised just over $5600 for our Christmas Appeal!

Our Christmas shopping centre collecting this year has raised just over $10,000!

Wedding Anniversary!
Congratulations to Warren and Pamela Freeman who have been married 40 years as of 11 December. They will spend a romantic evening at our church carols to celebrate! 

Awards
We want to acknowledge that SO MANY of our young people have or will be receiving awards at end of year assemblies this year. Well done to everyone who has been acknowledge for sporting, academic, arts or leadership achievements over 2022.
