Hi Parramatta Salvos, 

This Sunday we begin our new three-week series titled 'Celebration of Discipline', based on Richard Foster's modern classic. The book explores the 'classic disciplines' of Christian faith. The inward disciplines of meditiation, prayer, fasting and study. The outward disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission and service. And the corporate disciplines of confession, worship, guidance and celebration. Over the next three weeks, we will learn more about what the bible has to say on these inward, outward and corporate spiritual disciplines and how they might apply to our lives today.

We can't wait to see you at 9:30am or 11am this Sunday!

Ladies Fellowship
Ladies Fellowship meets each week at 10am for morning tea and 10:30am for fellowship. This week at fellowship we will hear from Mj. Ann Lingard. 

Community Event - Church Picnic
Everyone is invited to join for our church picnic NEXT SATURDAY 5 November from 12-2pm at Lake Parramatta. Meet near parking/cafe and BYO chairs, picnic blankets and lunch. You might also like to bring your swimmers or some games/sport equipment to enjoy. 

Worship Night
Our next Youth & Young Adults Worship night at Parramatta is on Sunday 13 November at 5:30pm. 

Flourish
Our next Flourish event is a Gingerbread House Decorating Party. All women and children (under 18) are welcome to join on Saturday 3 December from 3pm-5pm at Parramatta Salvos. 
Cost:
$50 for afternoon tea and a gingerbread house kit
$10 afternoon tea only

National Creative Arts Camp 2023
Following the postponement of the event in 2022, the Worship Arts team is thrilled to be hosting the Australia Territory's inaugural National Creative Arts Camp - a camp experience that will bring together creatives from across Australia to share in a week of praise and worship through music and the creative arts.  We are keen to identify creatives who would benefit from sharing in this special experience, learning and collaborating with other talented musicians and creative artists. 
Dates - Sunday 15 – Friday 20 January 2023   
Venue – Milson Island Sport and Recreation Centre, located 60 minutes north of Sydney, is secluded and stunning with sweeping views of the Hawkesbury River. 
Cost - $350  
Delegates - Youth and Young Adults [15 – 30 years]

Christmas Collecting
We have the opportunity to collect at both Winston Hills Mall and Carlingford Court in the lead up to Christmas. These dates are earlier than usual, so we will be putting rosters out in the foyer from next week and ask that you consider collecting during one of the available times. We will be collecting at Winston Hills Mall from 14/11 - 20/11 from 10am-4pm, and at Carlingford Court from 28/11 - 3/12 from 10am-4pm. 

Second Bite Pick Up - Help needed!
We need some volunteers who are willing to pick up our donations from Coles Westmead between  approximately 10:45-11:30am on Sunday 30 October and 6 November. If you are able to assist by picking up the goods and bringing them back to the hall, please contact Thushy (Community Connection Worker) at thushy.kailanathan@salvationarmy.org.au

Partnership with Metro Assist, Parramatta Council and STARTTS
On Thursday morning 22 Ukranian new arrivals attended an employment pathway training and road safety seminar here at Parramatta. This activity was arranged by Thushy and The Salvation Army Parramatta partnered with Metro Assist, Parramatta Council and STARTTS. The info session ran for two hours and those who attended are now eligible for three hours free driving sessions. 
We are now also partnering with Nandos Parramatta and are grateful that they were able to provide a free hot lunch for the participants. 
We are planning to expand this and run further programs in 2023!

International Appointments 
COLONELS PHIL AND DESLEA MAXWELL, officers of the Australia Territory currently serving respectively as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, USA Eastern Territory, are appointed as Officer Commanding and Command President of Women’s Ministries, Hong Kong and Macau Command. They will succeed Lieut-Colonels Bob and Wendy Lee who will be retiring from active service.
