Hi Parramatta Salvos,

Hope that you are enjoying our series on Proverbs and that you are appreciating that practical nature of this book.
How is your Proverbs reading going? I (Kylie) am enjoying reading through this book again and finding additional words of wisdom. This morning I read Proverbs 19 and was reminded in verse 21 that:
You can make many plans,
but the Lord's purpose will prevail.

What a great encouragement, God's purpose will prevail!
Bless you each as you continue to search for God's wisdom and purpose in your life whatever season you find yourself in.

See you on Sunday

Sanctuary Course
This term, we are excited about piloting a new course at Parramatta Salvos.

The 'Sanctuary Course' was created to equip churches as they seek to become sanctuaries where individuals with mental health challenges feel safe, supported, and a sense of belonging. Each session explores key mental health topics, drawing upon the insights of mental health professionals, church leaders, and people with lived experience. Developed in consultation with mental health professionals, theologians, and people with lived experience, this eight-session study guide explores key mental health topics and examines meaningful ways to offer companionship, support recovery, and promote wellbeing.

Who is it for?
The Sanctuary Course is a study guide for small groups, designed to raise awareness and start conversations in local churches regarding mental health. This may include:
- People with questions about mental health
- Mental health professionals with a wealth of knowledge to share
- Leaders who want to engage their community in mental health conversations
- People supporting loved ones with mental health problems
- People living with mental health problems

The Sanctuary Course is for anyone who wants to learn about faith and mental health. It requires no previous training or expertise—just a willingness to engage in dialogue with other believers. It is not recommended for people ages 17 and younger.

Details
This course will run on Thursday evenings at Parramatta Salvos from 7pm-8:30pm and is free for participants. There is also an invitation to join for dinner from 6pm-7pm. Course dates are: 25 August, 1 September, 8 September, 15 September, 22 September, 13 October, 20 October, 27 October.

Promoted to Glory - Doreen Salt
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the Promotion to Glory of our friend, Doreen Salt.
Doreen was a much loved soldier of Parramatta Corps, and had been part of the corps for 50 years. She was greatly respected, had a wonderful sense of humor and was an encouragement to so many. Doreen will be deeply missed by her family and friends, as well as us here at Parramatta.
We ask that you pray for Doreen's family at this time.
A private family service will be held next week and a Thanksgiving Service to celebrate Doreen's life will take place at Parramatta Corps in the coming weeks. Details will be made known in due course.
