Hi Parramatta Salvos,

This weekend is our KIDS MINISTRY Weekend! We are excited to join together at 10am this Sunday to celebrate our children at Parramatta Salvos. Our 10am service will be led by our young people this week, and we will hear from our special guest, Divisional Children's Secretary, Mj. Susanne Geracia.

Our morning service will be followed by morning tea, and you are invited to bring a plate to share.

We look forward to you joining with us!

ePlus Local at Parramatta
From Humanitarian Employment Consultant, Nibras Jasim
Eplus local is an employment service for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. We help our participants to be job ready. This includes, but not limited to, creating resumes and cover letters, providing interview tips and mocks, digital literacy, and obtaining a driver’s licence. Our intake criteria are: 1) being an asylum seeker, refugee or migrant; 2) Is not linked with a job active provider; 3) Is not receiving welfare payments from Centrelink; 4) has work rights in Australia. Additionally, we accept international students and people under spouse visa. People newly arrived to Australia and not linked to job active providers are also welcomed.

At Eplus local, we value the holistic approach in supporting our participants. We care about the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of our participants. During any stage of the job-hunting process, we are happy to refer our participants to well-known organisations that can provide free counselling, emergency relief services, and temporary accommodations for women and children fleeing family and domestic violence.

Our service is completely free!. We do not cost the participants nor the employers any expenses. If you ever in doubt about your (or your client’s) eligibility, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Humanitarian Employment Consultant (Nibras Jasim). We cannot wait to assist you during your settlement journey.

Nibras is working each Friday from our office in Parramatta.
Emma & James
We are so excited for James Eden and Emma Garrad who are to be married at Parramatta Salvos next Saturday! We are so happy for you both, and will be praying for you as you begin this new adventure together.

James & Emma would like to extend an invitation to our church community to join for the ceremony in our worship hall on Saturday 6 August at 1:30pm.
ALPHA Course
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from people who may be willing to lead/facilitate the ALPHA course at Parramatta Salvos. You can learn more about ALPHA by clicking this link: https://alpha.org
Alpha is an 11-week course that creates a space, online or in person, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about faith, life and God. This course would kick off early 2023, with training for leaders/facilitators to come later this year.
If you are interested, please email Sarah at: Sarah.walker@salvationarmy.org.au

Planned Giving
For those who take part in our Planned Giving Program at Parramatta Corps, please look out for your letter which will be available in the foyer after church for the next couple of week. If you would like any information on how to tithe or be part of the program, please contact Margaret Robinson.

Prayer and Blood Donations
Our friend Veronica Eldridge (who is a regular at ladies fellowship) has a very sick grandson in Westmead Children’s Hospital who needs blood 2-3 times a week.  There are many other children and adults like him who desperately need blood. Westmead Children’s Hospital and Adult Hospital are running short on supplies of blood.  We would love prayer for Veronica's grandchild, but also want to encourage you to consider getting involved practically.

Our officer team regularly donate blood and plasma, and you can also join up to The Salvation Army Australia Donation Team. If you are over 18, and are in a position to give,  please donate. There is a terrible shortage at the moment because people have flu, covid etc, so contact your local LifeBlood Centre.
Covid
Once again, covid is impacting many of our church family and community. Pray for people who are in isolation, and for our hospital systems as they are stretched more than ever.
