Hi Parramatta Salvos,

This week we come back to our overarching theme for 2022 "Life Together", as we explore the impacts of our individual time alone with God on our community. In his book, Life Together, Dietrich Bonhoeffer says, “Only in the fellowship do we learn to be rightly alone and only in aloneness do we learn to live rightly in fellowship.” In order to do life together in our church community, we must also learn to be alone with God - to listen to his voice through self-reflection and the reading of scripture. Spiritually healthy individuals help to build a spiritually healthy community.

Join us at 9:30am or 11am for worship, with morning tea and coffee (yes, the coffee machine is back in action!) in between our services.

Don't forget, as next Sunday is our Kids Ministry Sunday, we will be holding one service at 10am.

We look forward to you joining with us!

Ladies Fellowship
Ladies Fellowship meets each week at 10am for morning tea and 10:30am for fellowship, and all are welcome to attend! On Wednesday 27 July, we will spend the morning with our guest Mj. Margaret Sanz exploring "Words that harm or heal".
Worship Night
Youth & Young Adults Worship Night is on THIS Sunday 24 July from 5:30pm-7pm. We will be joined by guest preacher Casey O'Brien Machado! Casey is a soldier at Sydney Congress Hall, works for TSA in her role as Territorial Faith-Based Facilitation Coordinator and Trainer, and is also the Alternate Chair of the Moral and Social Issues Council in Australia. It's going to be a great night of worship and teaching, followed by supper (hot dogs). We can't wait to see you there!
Kids Ministry Weekend
Kids Ministry Weekend is coming up next weekend - 30 & 31 July! Plan to join us as we celebrate our theme for 2022 - "God's Big Story and Me".

There will also be a special training day for leaders on Saturday 30 July, run by the National Kids Team at Parramatta Salvos! All kids leaders and parents are invited to join in the webinar "Anxiety, Resilience & The Brain". The training runs from 11:30am-3pm right here at Parramatta Salvos, with lunch included. If you would like to join the training, you can register here: https://salvationarmy.typeform.com/to/Tr3dmzzz

Interstate Basketball and Netball Carnival
As you are aware, last week 13 people from Parramatta attended the Interstate Basketball and Netball Carnival on the Gold Coast. It was a great week of fun, hanging out, lots of food and sport.

Our teams had some good success. The women's basketball team made the grand final and came runners up to Tasmania. Our men's team made the semi-finals.

There was also some individual success with Chelsea Carger winning the overall 'Best and Fairest' for netball for and Sarah being named in women's basketball All Star Five.

Congratulations to everyone who attended!
University Overseas
We want to say congratulations and farewell to Yiwei Mayo who is leaving this coming Monday to study for a semester in the USA. Yiwei will be taking some holidays/sightseeing before starting the fall semester there.

Yiwei, we will miss you at Parramatta Salvos over the next few months, and will be excited for your return!

Please join us in prayerful support of Yiwei in the coming days and weeks.
Corps Bus
The Corps Business Team recently decided to sell the corps' Toyota Hiace bus. The bus needed some significant work done to it and had a high number of kilometres on the odometer. We are pleased to inform you that this week the bus sold for $22,100 at Pickles Auctions.

We will continue to monitor the need for such vehicle and will make a decision regarding this if and when required.
Ray Burnett
For those who knew Ray (Heather Hayes’s brother), a Memorial Service will be held at Gosford Army Friday 29th July at 1.00pm. Please continue to pray for Heather at this tough time.
Covid
Once again, covid is impacting many of our church family and community. Pray for people who are in isolation, and for our hospital systems as they are stretched more than ever.
