Hi Parramatta Salvos,

It has been said that healthy churches grow larger and smaller at the same time. We grow larger (numerically) in corporate worship, but also smaller as members connect through small groups. We know that God has created us to do life together - to share with one another and grow deeper in our relationships with God and with each other.

We are excited to begin this new series with you this Sunday, unpacking the three key elements of Life Groups - to connect, grow and serve together. We hope that this series will remind us that Life Groups create a space for connection where people intentionally share their lives with one another, help us grow as disciples of Jesus and know one another better, and finally encourage us to care and serve together.

It's our prayer that you would start to consider being part of a Life Group (if you aren't already) - these groups will launch after Easter in Term 2, 2022. Opportunity will be given in the coming weeks to express interest in joining a group.

We are also looking for Life Group 'Hosts'. Hosting is simply coordinating the group - calling the fortnightly gatherings and making sure the group has resources. Hosts do not have to 'lead' the bible study/discussion - in fact, we'd encourage you to share this responsibility in your group. But we do need people to Host groups and be the key contact. If you feel this is something God may be prompting you to do, would you please get in touch with Annette Duncan by the end of March?

We are also excited to let you know that Annette will be coordinating Life Groups as we attempt to get everyone at Parramatta Salvos connected to a group.

We can't wait to see where this Life Group journey will take us!

Community Event
Our next Community Event at Parramatta Salvos is this Saturday 19 March. We will be meeting at Lake Parramatta at 1pm for a picnic. BYO chair or picnic rug and food/drinks. This event is for EVERYONE at Parramatta Salvos - please come along and connect with one another.
Band Trip to Orange
From Mj. David Collinson
Over 12 months ago the band was invited to Orange Corps by the Corps Officer, Major Colin Young. Due to Covid we have had to delay this trip until next weekend. Our band of 22 is really looking forward to this outreach opportunity. The weekend includes a 7pm Saturday night concert where they are expecting around 150 people to attend, Sunday morning worship service will be led by the band and Major David Collinson will preach followed by a 1pm outdoor recital in the rotunda at the local park.

Please pray for the ministry of the band as they share the gospel through music to the orange community next weekend.

Due to the absence of the band and family members on this weekend, there will be no 11am service next week - Sunday 27 March. Please plan instead to join us for our 9:30am service in person or online.
Self Denial Appeal
Please pick up your Self Denial Appeal letter and envelope from the church foyer over the next couple of weeks. We invite you to pray about your giving in this appeal, and to join us for our Altar Service on Sunday 3 April.
Celebration of Life - Hazel Vickery
On Sunday 3 April there will be a service to celebrate the life of our friend Hazel Vickery. This service will take place at approximately 12:15pm following our 11am worship service. All are welcome to attend and join with Hazel's family in this celebration service.

Planned Giving Renewal
Thank you to everyone who renewed their pledge to give during our services last Sunday. We are encouraged by the generosity of so many, and know God will use what we give to build His kingdom here in Parramatta.

If you were away or missed the opportunity, you can place your envelope in the regular offering this week. Additionally pledge cards and envelopes will be available in the foyer. As we are allocating new 'giving numbers' in this cycle, it's important to return a card even if you have pledge in the past.
Craft Group
Craft group begins next week! Join us on Fridays from 10am-1pm in our multipurpose room (next to the kitchen) on Friday 25 March. Anyone is welcome to drop by and share skills/learn new crafts. BYO craft materials, tea and coffee will be provided. Denise Thomas will be coordinating this group and is available to answer any questions.
Justice of the Peace
If anyone requires documents signed by a JP, John Acocks, Margaret Robinson and Len Cross would like to make themselves available to anyone at Parramatta Salvos. Please contact one of these people if you are in need of a JP, or get in touch with the corps office.
Brass Band Trip to Orange
As mentioned above, please pray for our Brass Band as they minister to the people of Orange next week.
Ongoing Covid Impacts
Please continue to lift up the many people in our church community who have been impacted by Covid over the past few weeks. We are praying that people recover well and that transmission is minimised over the coming weeks.
