Parramatters - 9th April 2021
We hope you enjoy catching up on what's happening at Parramatta Salvos.

If you would like to submit anything to be considered for inclusion in our weekly church life update, please email parramatta@salvationarmy.org.au by 5pm Wednesday each week.
This Sunday
This week we conclude our Easter series "JESUS", as we take a closer look the the disciple's response to the resurrection of Jesus.

Next week we begin our new series "Hearing God". This 5 week series identifies and deconstructs the most common myths about how God communicates with us. We'll learn more about tools to accurately decipher and follow the voice of God in our lives. We can't wait to share this new series with you at our 9:30am and 11am services!
Celebration of Life - Albertus Offereins
Due to COVID restrictions, 12 months ago, attendance at the funeral of Albertus Offereins was restricted to 10 people - all of whom were from his and Joyce's family. Now that restrictions are lifted, we are able to invite others from his Salvationist family to attend a short celebration of his life.

This service is planned for next Sunday 18th April, to commence at approximately 12:15pm, following the 11am service at Parramatta Corps.

It will provide an opportunity to both remember Albertus, and give thanks for his many areas of service within the Corps. You are all invited to attend.
Red Shield Appeal
As we wrap up the Easter season, we step into our Red Shield Appeal! Last year we made the transition to the "Digital Door Knock", and we will be rolling this out once again in 2021.

We also have the opportunity to collect at many static points in the week leading up to and over the weekend of our Red Shield Appeal, and we are asking everyone to consider filling a static time slot. If you are willing to physically knock on doors, this opportunity will also be given to small group of people over the Red Shield Appeal Weekend. Please save the dates - 29 & 30 May - and stay tuned for more information.

If you feel passionately about the Red Shield Appeal and would like to be part of our planning team, please email Sarah at sarah.walker@salvationarmy.org.au
This team will help coordinate static rosters, small collection teams and our counting house.
Save the Date - Movie Night!
On Saturday 15 May at 6:30pm we will be holding a movie night at Parramatta Salvos to raise money for this year's Red Shield Appeal. This will be a night for all ages, so please save the date and plan to be there. Tickets will be a donation of $5 per person or $20 for a family of 4 or more. We invite you to bring a camping chair or a picnic blanket to sit on. Snacks, drinks and coffee will available to purchase on the night.
Divisional Family Connect Day
We invite all families with young children to 'save the date' for the Divisional "Family Connect Day" at Symbio Wildlife Park and Menai Salvos. For more information and to register head to: http://tinyurl.com/familyconnectdaymay
Easter Weekend
We had a fantastic weekend remembering and celebrating Easter last weekend at Parramatta Salvos. A huge thank you to our tech team, musicians, photographers and hospitality teams for all you did to support our the weekend and make it fantastic! We hope you enjoy some images of our weekend (additional images can be found on our Facebook or Instagram page).
English Conversation Groups
We have had many enquiries over the past few weeks about the recommencement of our English Conversation Groups. We would love to be able to resume this weekday program, however, we do not have a leader for this group or enough people to support by making up a team. If you feel that this is a ministry you could help facilitate or lead, please email Kylie at kylie.collinson@salvationarmy.org.au
Farewells
On Sunday 18 April we will say farewell to James and Jodi Young, and Elwyn and Margaret Humbley. James and Jodi are moving to Broken Hill as James takes up his first appointment with the NSW Police Force. Elwyn and Margaret are moving Queensland to be closer to family.

Please pray for the Youngs and the Humbleys during this time of transition. We are going to miss you all here at Parramatta Salvos!
Diana Flood
Please remember Diana Flood in your prayers this week, who is going into hospital next Monday.
