State of the Territory Event
The Salvation Army’s (TSA) inaugural State of the Territory event – hosted by our Territorial Leaders and the Chief Secretary – have been developed to give everyone at TSA the opportunity to ask questions about where we are now and what we hope for the future of the Army.

The events will be live streamed, so you can join online from wherever you are. The Salvation Army has gone through a lot of change in the last few years, not to mention the challenges thrown by COVID-19. These events were set up in response to requests and feedback for accessible and transparent conversations about the way things are and our future.

What will we be talking about?
While the Chief and Territorial Leaders will speak to current challenges and their hope and vision for The Salvation Army movement for 2021, the conversations will be led by you. Our leaders are calling on you to submit questions/topics that they can speak to on the day.

How can I contribute questions?
Send any questions or topics you would like discussed during these events to internalcommunications@salvationarmy.org.au by 17 February 2021.

All submissions will be treated with confidentiality. If all questions can't be addressed on the day due to time constraints, rest assured, responses will be shared in follow up communication after the events.

Sunday 21 February 4pm AEDT
This event will be live streamed from Box Hill Corps.

A note from Ben Eden
Late last year I was offered, accepted and have since started a full-time role as a Graduate Consultant for a Professional Services/Management Consulting firm in Canberra called Synergy Group. The firm works to deliver practical outcomes and solutions to complex issues, largely within government agencies. The office is located in Barton, on the same street as the Salvos National Secretariat (DHQ), and about a street away from City Circle (Parliament House). As of yet, I have not seen any federal politicians, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time! The Graduate Program lasts for one year, with my end goal to be promoted to Consultant following this. Synergy has four main capabilities that it offers to clients, and I have been placed (for now) as a Business Analyst in the Digital and Technology Service line.

I have also taken up a volunteer role at the Salvation Army Tuggeranong in a few areas, including SAGALA, Youth and Kids Church. It’s a very different experience to Parramatta, and as much as I miss all of the lovely people at Parra, I’ve been warmly welcomed into Tuggers! Every Sunday I find myself in unique conversations with Tuggeranong folk that mention how they know a large majority of you wonderful Parramatta folk, whether it be via previous residency, Songsters, Equip, or through soldering at a range of other corps over the years. It reaffirms to me how small and tight knit the Salvos really are! Although I guess Canberra and Sydney are not all that far removed from one another!

You’ll likely see my face around at Parramatta every now and then as I come back to visit. It is only a three-hour drive after all! I’m sure I’ve got as much to catch-up on with all the Parramatta folk as you do about me! And when events come back (please be soon!!!) you can guarantee that I’ll be the first one there!

Parra will always hold a special place in my heart. If you ever want to chat, or you find yourself down in Canberra and need a suggestion for places to get good food or coffee, don’t hesitate to give me a buzz. Looking forward to coming back soon and seeing you all again soon!!

Much love,
Benny

Congratulations, Ben! We are proud of you, and we are praying for you as you begin this new adventure.
