Carols in the Domain 2014

WHEN: 20 December 2014

WOW, another year, another AMAZING Carols in the Domain!

Over the last 21 years Oasis has been lucky enough to be involved with Woolworths Carols in the Domain. This event is one of Oasis biggest FUNdraising events in the Oasis calendar that sees a potential $150,000 raised for Crisis Accommodation.

To give you an idea of the scope of this event; in late November a team of over 500 volunteers, largely our incredible corporate supporters, some very dedicated individuals, school kids and our amazing staff, took over the Woolworth’s Distribution Centre in Hoxton Park for eight days to pack 10,000 candle bags with more than 45 items each (!!). But that was just the beginning. Once the bags were packed they were transported (in 8 semi-trailers) to the Domain ready to sell on the big day.

On Saturday 20th December, Team Oasis and another small army of volunteers descended ready to sell, sell, sell!! And sell they did! With four sites across the Domain, 100 volunteers and over 80,000 attendees; Oasis, Woolworths, MYOB and the team from Active TV joined forces to make this year another great year in Carols in the Domain & Oasis history.

The team really did put the FUN in fundraising once again with light up Santa hats, bad Christmas t-shirts and carol sing-a-long’s between the crowd and Oasis volunteers – the buzz on the day was so just great! And in all the fun, everyone was reminded of how wonderful it is to celebrate in the spirit of Christmas with a crowd of incredibly generous and supportive people that helped Oasis raise over $112,000!

The funds raised at this event each year go towards the Crisis Accommodation centre; a service that provides 16-21 year olds with short term accommodation and access to case management services that help young people find hope for the future and rebuild their lives in times of great need.

Thank you to everyone that participated this year – we really couldn’t do it without you.
