Blackmore’s Running Festival

WHEN: 21 September 2014
WHERE: CBD, Sydney

As the sun was rising on Sunday September 21, fifteen of Oasis’s most amazing volunteers headed down to Macquarie St in the city to help set up for the 2014 Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival. Once the drink drink stations were loaded with water it was time to cheer on the 28,024 runners that were 100% focussed on crossing that finishing line.

54 participants were out on the course supporting Oasis, raising funds and helping reignite hope. Over $3,700 was raised to support the Crisis Accomodation Centre, a place that strives not only to provide a warm bed and living essentials, but also a place to feel safe and call home. “It was the first time I have ever done a running event and not only was it awesome to run across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, but it was also amazing to know that every step I ran in my Oasis running shirt was helping raise awareness for such an important cause” said Hannah, one of our running partners.

With 693 kms smashed by the runners and 5,300 cups of water craftily filled and handed out by our volunteers, there is no doubt that the day was a huge success and we can’t believe we have to wait another whole year until we get out there again.
