Welcome

Macquarie Lodge Aged Care Centre offers a caring and supportive lifestyle. Our homely interiors offer a mix of private and communal areas for you to enjoy. We also have an outdoor living area, where activities, events and BBQs often take place, or residents can have some quiet time.

Conveniently located, the Centre has links to major transport networks, local services and is only 15 minutes away from the Hurstville and Rockdale shopping centres and Brighton Le Sands beach.

We recognise the importance of family and friends and encourage them to be a part of our community. We also work closely with the local community and schools, often having them visit or collaborating on events. Over time, we have built a credible reputation in the community as an organisation that genuinely cares for others in need without discrimination, regardless of their personal circumstances.

Our Services

At Macquarie Lodge Aged Care Centre, we offer permanent residential care including dementia care and palliative care; and respite (short-term) care. We also offer eligible residents in-house NDIS services.

Our staff and Chaplains go beyond the clinical to cater for the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of residents. You are sure to feel right at home with our friendly, dedicated and qualified staff and person-centred model of care.

24-hour care from our dedicated and professional staff

Each staff member has undergone reference and security checks to ensure they are fully qualified, experienced and are passionate about working in the aged care sector. Our staff undergo ongoing training to make sure they are up to speed with the latest processes and knowledge. Emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diversity are other key factors that we take into consideration when recruiting staff into our Centre community.

Specialised dementia care

Our approach to dementia care is led by each person's interests, feelings and emotions. We respect the rich lives they have led by tailoring our care based on their personal history in a dedicated dementia-friendly environment.

Environment can have a big impact on the quality of life. Our William wing is specifically designed to meet the needs of residents with higher-level behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.

Homely, fully-furnished rooms

There is a range of spacious single and twin rooms, with natural light and views of our gardens, suburban surroundings and the Sydney city skyline. Each room has:

  • 24-hour emergency call system
  • Telephone, TV and WiFi connections available
  • Built-in cupboards
  • Air conditioning
  • Electronically adjustable beds

This is your home; you are most welcome to bring in your own favourite items - photos, mementos and accessories to dress the room to your own taste and preferences. *

*All items must meet the Centre's work, health and safety guidelines.

Tasty and nutritious meals

Meals are cooked daily onsite by a qualified chef in consultation with the dietitian. The menu is regularly rotated to promote choice and take advantage of what is in season. Each meal has a selection of high protein, vegetarian and modified options. We also cater for special dietary and cultural requirements.

Nutrition programs can also be organised as required.

Exercise and wellbeing programs

We take fun quite seriously. The Centre has a dedicated Lifestyle team that organises daily activities based on the suggestions of residents via resident meetings. These include animal therapy, music therapy, art therapy, visiting entertainers, karaoke, armchair travel, gardening, bus trips and community connections with local schools and events. We also organise Tai Chi and a weekly exercise program with a physiotherapist to help residents stay active.

We offer:

  • Centre bus
  • Onsite hairdressing salon
  • Recreational and activities room with interactive games
  • Visitors’ lounge
  • BBQ area
  • Book corners and computer kiosk
  • Visitors’ overnight accommodation

Our dementia wing has its own activity calendar that can be group-based or one-on-one with staff, depending on residents' needs and preferences.

Visiting health specialists

Scheduled visits from the local GP and other Allied Health services as needed, including podiatrist, occupational therapist and optometrist.

A mobile dentist also visits every 6 weeks.

Spiritual and chaplaincy services

We have a holistic model of care. The Centre Chaplains play an important role in bringing this to life. We also have a chapel onsite. Whatever your beliefs, our Chaplains are here to assist in your spiritual and emotional journey, if you wish - because we don't have clients, only family.

Testimonial

My mother was in Macquarie Lodge Aged Care Centre for five years and my father for two years. They are both in heaven now and, although I miss them greatly, it is a comfort for me to know they were very well-cared for during their last years. Staff members were extremely kind and I felt they really loved my parents. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
Macquarie Lodge Aged Care Centre became like my second home over the seven years and the staff were always lovely to me; something I really appreciated over my innumerable visits. I miss it so much that I still go to chapel services there sometimes!  The spiritual support is something which really sets Macquarie Lodge apart from many aged care facilities.

Testimonial

The nursing home was incredibly patient with me, noting that many carers have health problems after such upheaval. I was touched by this. The staff were caring and helpful. They got to know their residents.  They listened and answered your questions.
