About our centres

Our community centres work to meet the unique needs and interests of the people who gather there. We invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and other members of the community, to drop in.

Alice Springs

The Waterhole community is The Salvation Army’s open door to the community. It strives to be a place of tranquillity, a place of meeting and a place of possibility. 

The Waterhole welcomes you to use the facilities, to get out of the heat in summer or the cold in winter.

You have access to:

  • Art workshops 
  • Breakfast and lunch, tea and coffee 
  • Chairs and sofas for comfortable yarning
  • Showers
  • Television and DVD player to watch films
  • Washing machines and powder

The Waterhole also provides case management to clients, while linking individuals and their families with the appropriate services.  

Katherine

The Hub is a drop-in centre and community space supporting people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness in the Katherine region. It has various activities on offer including an art and creative space, basic facilities, and a drop-in community area with access to local agencies and support.

As well as a safe and friendly place to come and relax in the air conditioning, people can access:

  • Breakfast and lunch
  • Cold water
  • Showers
  • Television and DVD player to watch films 
  • Washing machines and dryers

The Hub also provides case management to clients, whilst linking individuals and their families with the appropriate services.
