S.T.A.N.D was born out of the need and desire to help Australian communities with disaster preparedness, response, recovery and resilience. Thanks to the support of major corporate partners such as Woolworths, The Salvation Army has and continues to support people impacted by the Black Summer bushfires of 2019-2020.

While The Salvation Army continues to provide support to the thousands of people affected by the Black Summer bushfires of 2019-2020, we remain ready to assist those facing current bushfire threats. The Salvation Army Strategic and Disaster Management team is here to respond to the immediate needs of emergency workers and impacted communities during and in the aftermath of fires.

A year on from the Black Summer bushfire disaster The Salvation Army has released a 12-month Bushfire Disaster Appeal Report, outlining its ongoing recovery work. The report provides a detailed breakdown of how funds have been distributed to people in affected communities as they work to rebuild their homes and their lives. You can download and read the report below.

At the time of publishing, over 17,000 grants have been provided to those experiencing extreme hardship or loss of residence – supporting them as they rebuild and furnish their new homes. The grants also supported young people looking to continue their education or find work, as well as those who required financial assistance beyond what the grants could provide. We have also provided more than 5800 Moneycare financial counselling sessions to help people and communities manage their money during recovery and beyond.
