‘Missional Communities’ Corps

As presented to the Divisional and Territorial Leadership for their approval - Feb 2015.

Brisbane South Corridor (see Map below) – – the suburbs of: Southbank, West End, Annerley, Yeronga, Moorooka, Salisbury, Sherwood, Graceville, Tarragindi. (Also now including Centerary and immedate suburbs.)

Summary:

To establish a healthy, growing and reproducible Salvation Army Corps in the southern corridor of Brisbane. To implement the approach of establishing Missional Communities across the southern corridor with the emphases on disciple-making, leadership development and an approach that promotes a lay-led tent-making Corps Planting.

Need:

- To initiate a new Corps with a disciple-making culture.
- To plant a reproducible and sustainable Salvation Army ‘Missional Communities’ Corps in the South Brisbane Corridor. See map below. (Also now including Centerary and immedate suburbs.)
- To apprentice Missional Community Leaders in order to multiply Salvation Army Missional Communities.
- Develop an approach to Corps Planting where the outcome is lay-led tent-making Missional Communities.

  1. What does a Missional Community Corps looks like?

Definition of a Missional Community Corps.

A Missional Communities Corps is both the ‘scattered’ and the ‘gathered’. The Corps meeting in communities of 20-40 and then gathering all the MC’s together for united Celebration Worship.

Led by lay members, they are as varied and diverse as people themselves, and include communities for ‘students, young adults, creative types, the marginalised, Celebrate Recovery, business communities, families, the elderly and more!’.

2.    What are the key parts of a MC Corps?

-         Leadership Team

Leadership Team - that gives oversight to Salvos Hope Communities South Brisbane. 

-         Discipleship Huddles

The Small Groups meeting of 'followers of Jesus' supporting each other through prayer, Bible, fun and friendship. Some of these groups will become Huddle and Hope Communities leaders.

-         Hope Communities (MC’s)

Described above.

-         Monthly Celebration Worship Meetings - 'the Gathering'.

A Celebration event that includes all the Hope Communities gathering and participating together for worship, testimony and teaching.
