Giving

Giving comes in many forms, and all of it does good.

Donations

The work of The Salvation Army relies upon people’s generosity and faithfulness. Thank you for your support.
Donate to our community work

Donate to our community work

We're thankful for the generosity of those who partner with us to provide much-needed funds and practical assistance to children, families and individuals around the country. Because of you, we're able to make a difference. Together, we can leave no one in need.

Our community services work relies on the generosity of the community. This includes helping people facing financial difficulties and supporting families during a time of need.

Thank you for giving to support the community service work of Greater West (GWS) Salvos.

If you’d like to donate clothing or household items, please contact one of the local Salvos Stores directly. Your contributions help support vital community programs across the region.

Food for our Life Essentials Store
We’re always looking to partner with local businesses to help stock our Life Essentials Store.

If you’d like to enquire about large donations of food or non-perishable items, please email us.

Volunteering

Volunteering is an invitation to put your faith into action in an area of ministry you feel God is calling you into or for which you have a passion. Our volunteers play a significant role in how we serve our community in the Penrith LGA and the 2770 suburbs of Western Sydney. We currently operate 3 sites for volunteering:
Visit one of our centres to speak to a member of the team or email us for more information.

1) Complete the forms – We’ll collect the necessary information and forms to ensure you’re fully protected while volunteering with us.

2) Join us for an interview – Meet our team and explore the best volunteer role for you. Please share what motivates you to volunteer. We value every expression of interest, though not all applicants can be accommodated.

3) Undertake checks – Depending on your role, you may need to provide a Working With Children Check (WWCC), Police Check, and referee details.

4) Complete training – Once registered, you’ll receive an email with login details to complete a few short online training modules.

Support the Red Shield appeal

We’re proud to serve the Penrith Local Government Area and the 2770 postcodes, providing vital support across our three sites, including:

  • Meals
  • Financial counselling
  • Community groups
  • Affordable groceries and household aid
  • Drug and alcohol support
  • Case management

Your generosity helps ensure that when people turn to the Salvos, we can be there — offering hope, care and practical assistance to those experiencing homelessness, hardship and injustice.

We’d love to visit your school, workplace or community group to share stories of our local impact and explore how we can work together for this year’s appeal.
