If you have been directed to get your assistance from our Greater West (GWS) Salvos site, we’re open for voucher collection Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm.

When you ring us, you may also be assigned a Doorways Caseworker.

Doorways is a casework program that aims to support people as they seek to make changes in their lives. We believe everyone can change and Doorways caseworkers walk alongside people as they develop plans to achieve their goals.

We understand that cost of living pressures can make it hard to buy quality food and take part in community activities. The aim of our Life Essentials Store (LES) is to provide essential goods at a reduced price to reduce these pressures and leave you with more income to spend on your family.

What’s required?
When you come, we ask for a Pension or Concession Card and evidence of residential address in the Penrith LGA and 2770 suburbs.

The Salvation Army’s free financial counselling service, Moneycare, is here to help you feel in control of your finances.

We can work with you to manage your debt, develop new strategies or you may like to explore our free eBook. We can also point you in the right direction for a No Interest Loan.

At Greater West (GWS) Salvos, we have Moneycare financial counsellors on site. They can help you take control of your finances with personalised advice on:

• Budgeting
• Managing debt
• Planning for the future

The Foundations Program is a Drug and Alcohol treatment program for people in the Community.

Our aim is to assist participants to better understand and manage substance use and find community, meaning and independence. The program is based on contemporary, internationally recognised methods – such as cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and motivational enhancement strategies.

The community-based Foundations Program entails 36 group sessions over 18 weeks. Treatment often extends beyond 18 weeks depending on the individual’s needs and the program is spaced apart to accommodate participants with employment, parental responsibilities, legal obligations and various appointments that need to be attended.

The program can also offer a Work Development Order for participants to address fines with Revenue NSW while receiving treatment

The Salvation Army helps people looking for work by giving them training and support so they can find a job that suits them.

Because we are a not-for-profit organisation, any extra money we make goes back into helping others — including people who are homeless, affected by disasters, or going through a tough time.

Before you engage with our Employment Plus service make sure you head to Centrelink as a job seeker. After that, call us to book an appointment.

The Penrith Homeless Services Card helps people in Penrith find local support quickly. It lists places where you can get food, clothing, housing help, health care and other services when you need them most.
