Changes to Christmas Services this weekend

24 December 2021

Greetings all,

You are likely aware of the re-introduction of COVID safety requirements in our community given the recent increase in infections.

We write to indicate we have reluctantly made the decision to cancel our services on Christmas and Boxing Day. Whilst we are naturally disappointed, we have made this decision due to the rapidly changing COVID situation this week and given at least two of our corps people have tested positive who were in attendance last Sunday.

Our priority is to do all we can to keep everyone safe and well, particularly over this special time of the year. In making our decision, we realise that Christmas Day is a time when greater interaction takes place with one another at worship than usual. Our plans for Sunday also involved more interaction than normal and out of concern for all, we don’t believe it would be responsible to accept this risk.

As we move into the new year, there is every likelihood we will see more positive cases within the corps community.  In such instances, we will follow the appropriate medical advice and guidance from the Division.

We realise how disappointing this decision is, yet know you will understand our heart’s desire to care for everyone.

May God give us wisdom as we seek His guidance on managing this ongoing situation.

In lieu of our Christmas Day service this Saturday, we will be sending out a short Christmas Message at 9:30am via email and through our social media channels.

Blessings,
Lt Col. Debra Stevens & Maj. Brian Saunders
