Be hope this winter

A concerning number of older Australians are facing poverty, isolation and homelessness this winter, but your support can show them they are not alone.

June protected everyone else.

But she couldn’t protect herself from homelessness.

In these difficult times, it’s older Australians living alone, who are falling victim to the rising hardships and injustices of the world we live in.

Women like June.

Just as she was beginning her retirement, June was preyed on by a man who took advantage of her loneliness, isolated from her loved ones, and gradually robbed her of everything she owned.

She told us…

“I lost everything. My super. My savings. My home.”

She was forced to jump from couch to couch, and it wasn’t long before she ran out of places to stay.

Thankfully, she picked up the phone and rang The Salvation Army before things got worse. And that call helped change the course of her life.

As June told us…

“My Salvos Case Worker truly saved me. She helped me find a home and get my finances in order. I finally felt like everything was going to be okay, because I wasn’t doing it alone.”

This winter, there are thousands of older Australians just

like June, feeling isolated, lonely and afraid, who are praying for that same kind of compassion.

This is what your kind-hearted support today can provide.

Please will you reach out with a compassionate gift to support our Winter Appeal today? Thank you!
