Are we safer homeless?

When Kim faced domestic violence at home, she wanted to leave. But with the rising cost of rent, she couldn’t afford to move out.

“There were a couple of incidents where I should have left, but I couldn’t see a way out. I felt trapped because I had no money to leave.”

Sadly, Kim’s situation is not a one-off case. Domestic violence is the number one cause of homelessness for women in Australia.  And the increasing cost of housing puts additional pressure on women and children escaping violence.

Every 17 seconds, The Salvation Army responds to a call for help.

To meet this need, our day-to-day operations depend on donors like you. Your monthly support — together with our community of Crisis Partners across Australia — ensures the Salvos can be there when we’re needed most.

The need is great. Will you help?
