In 1880, The Salvation Army was established in Adelaide by John Gore and Edward Saunders. Within two years it had spread throughout Australia.

Locally, following more than 100 years of witness and service in Hawthorn, our Corps (Church) relocated to Glen Waverley where it has been serving the community since 1987. In that time we have grown and extended our ministries.

Vision

Wherever there is hardship or injustice, Salvos will live, love and fight, alongside others to transform Australia one life at a time with the love of Jesus.

Mission

Caring for people, Creating faith pathways, Building healthy communities, Working for Justice

Values

Recognising that God is already at work in the world, we value:

  • Compassion - Hearing and responding to pain with love.
  • Respect - Affirming the worth and capacity of all people.
  • Diversity - Embracing difference as a gift.
  • Collaboration - Creating partnerships in mission

We commit ourselves in prayer and practice to this land of Australia and its people, seeking reconciliation, unity and equity.
