This is my story ...

In 2004, I, along with my wife Yvonne, transferred from Bankstown Salvation Army Corps (Church), where we had been soldiers (members) for over 40 years, to be part of the team to establish The Salvation Army in the Rouse Hill area, led by founding officers, Captains Dennis and Sue McGuigan. We had relocated to Kellyville some 6 years before this and continued to attend the corps at Bankstown until which time God called us to be part of something new.

Moving to a new corps plant from a long established corps was a dramatic change for me but I can certainly say - a change I do not regret. Over the years the plant has grown to be a substantial corps and with this growth my relationship with God has been significantly enhanced, fostered by a new emphasis on prayer as well as the opportunity to witness in the community.

Being part of a group which meets regularly to pray for the people and mission of the corps as well as the wider mission of The Salvation Army has, I believe, been a key factor in the spiritual development of not only the corps, but me personally. The opportunity to witness in the community, especially through ministry at our local shopping centres, has been truly rewarding and increased my courage to share the Gospel message.

The Christian fellowship at Rouse Hill Corps is something special, while the meaningful worship and challenging teaching in our meetings is inspirational.

Seeing the fantastic children in our corps growing in their knowledge of the scriptures and taking Jesus into their young lives brings further joy and blessing to me – one of the “oldies”.

I believe that my experience is not dissimilar to that of many others in our corps family. This is evidenced by the absolutely harmonious relationship between people attending the corps and the positive indications of continuing spiritual development.

Praise be to God!
