Thank you for supporting Walking Home

It’s time to end homelessness for Australia, and we believe that when we work together, we can.

Thank you to everyone who supported The Salvation Army Shepparton's inaugural Walking Home event marking national homelessness week. An estimated 150 people joined in walking around Lake Victoria in Shepparton to raise awareness of homelessness as concern for healthy community.

This year The Salvation Army's call, "It's time to end homelessness for Australia, and we believe that when we work together, we can," emphasises the need for a whole of community response, including government, the not-for-profit sector, community groups, faith communities, businesses and all residents. Shared concern was evident in the attendance of Ms Kim O'Keefe MP (state Member for Shepparton), Mr Peter McGrath (The Salvation Army's Homelessness State Manager Victoria, Majors Andrew and Kelly Walker (The Salvation Army Northern Victoria's Area Officers), as well as representatives of many community service organisations.

Thank you too to The Salvation Army's Emergency Services team who prepared a Sausage Sizzle for participants, and Krueger's Fine Meats and Smallgoods and Market Meats in Shepparton who donated the sausages.
