Kayla’s story
A 21 year old, from the Philippines, faced many challenges growing up as the fourth of eight children. Her parents struggled to provide for the family until they joined a project, which provided livelihoods training and support to empower families.
The family initially started a mobile fried chicken business, pivoted to a mobile sari-sari store, eventually growing it into a successful business selling school and office supplies. This newfound financial stability allowed them to cover their children's education and provided a sense of pride.
With the family’s finances improving, Kayla focused on her studies. Despite financial setbacks, she earned a scholarship in hospitality management and continued her education uninterrupted. Kayla’s journey shows how livelihood programs can create lasting change and empower families to thrive.
