The Salvation Army has a long and significant history serving the people of Western Sydney.
The Salvation Army commenced its operations in Australia in 1880 by John Gore. It is a testimony to the passion and dedication of these early Salvationists, that by 1884, only 4 years after Gore started the Army’s work in Adelaide, The Salvation Army had opened its work and obtained its first building in Penrith.
After a century of work, there were six centres for the Salvation Army's work across Western Sydney.
