Early recovery support - ex-Cyclone Alfred

The SAES team is supporting local communities as they face the early recovery phase in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. 

South East Queensland

Relief grants are available to residents impacted by the ex-Cyclone Alfred by applying online. See grant information for more details, including eligiblity and application form.

Alternatively, applications can be made by calling The Salvation Army Cyclone Alfred Team dedicated message servce on (07) 3001 6211.

Northern New South Wales

Residents impacted by ex-Cyclone Alfred can seek support from our SAES teams in recovery hubs located in Northern New South Wales. These recovery hubs are managed by the State Government and opening times may change. Please check the link below for the latest recovery hub details and information about financial assistance and eligibility.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Salvation Army personnel may not be present at all sites. We apologise for the inconvenience. 

Recovery hubs are operated by multiple agencies, including The Salvation Army, and are a one-stop-shop for information, referrals, personal support and guidance with accessing financial assistance. For those seeking assistance, please bring: 

  • Essential - Photo ID with the address of your flood-damaged house (this needs to be your primary place of residence) 
  • Essential - A Medicare or Health Care Card to show your dependents if you are claiming a grant for your household members.
  • Optional - Any other evidence to demonstrate that you are flood-impacted. For example, an insurance claim, referral letter etc.

In the aftermath of a disaster, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of all that needs to be done.  
 
You don’t have to take the journey alone.  
 
The Salvation Army can provide advice, assistance and clarity, to help you make sense of what the next steps are and regain control over the situation. We are here to support you for as long as it takes to recover. 

How to access recovery support

In a government-declared emergency, The Salvation Army offers hardship grants for urgent necessities like food, clothing, and medical supplies. Recovery hubs, managed by state or local governments and involving various agencies, including The Salvation Army, serve as one-stop-shops for information, referrals, and personal support, including financial assistance.

Recovery support can be sought in-person at a recovery hub. Those seeking assistance must provide the following:  

Essential

  • Photo ID with the address of your flood-damaged house (this needs to be your primary place of residence)
