Ava carrying a backpack and looking distressed

Give to the Salvos Red Shield Appeal today.

Last year, more than 40,000 unaccompanied children and young people struggled through homelessness.

Sadly, more than half were young girls like Ava*… who became homeless after escaping an abusive home – all while finishing school.

This is why your Red Shield Appeal support is so important today.

When Ava was forced to leave the trauma of her childhood behind, she was suddenly confronted with another battle - surviving homelessness. And a refuge wasn’t exactly the ideal environment to finish her final year of schooling.

But the moment the Salvos came into her life, everything changed.

Not only did a Salvos program provide her with two years of accommodation so she could focus on her studies, but her Salvos Case Worker helped Ava get her license, learn to cook and budget.

With support like yours, Ava was able to receive the kind of care she never got from her family to build a life of her own.

Ava is just one example of thousands of vulnerable young people struggling through hardships right now.

Especially as everyday living and housing continues to become increasingly unaffordable.

Your Red Shield Appeal support can be the hope someone like Ava desperately needs to break free from homelessness for good.

Please give today as generously as you can. Thank you.

*To protect Ava’s privacy, her name and some details of her story have been changed.
