Disasters and emergencies keep hurting those in need.
Here in Australia we know the challenge of tough times, and we stick together to support each other.
But what happens to those left behind? While emergencies and disasters leave front pages and nightly news programs, the nightmare for some, is not over.
That’s when it takes courage to care.
Right across Australia, families are still struggling to recover from disaster and emergency. There are those that have lost their income, people struggling to support their families, and most tragically, empty chairs at tables around the country.
Right now there are too many families still doing it tough. Without your help, people can feel all alone and left behind.
Marilyn, from Queensland’s Boyne Valley, whose farm has suffered through disaster, sums up the pain:
“It’s shattering. Our spirits were broken.I was constantly teary, seeing the animals suffer with no sight of rain and always the threat of bushfires.”
Luckily, there is at least some good news.
The good news is that through The Salvation Army, you can provide the support families like Marilyn’s need most. Household essentials, emergency care and most important of all, ongoing emotional support when it feels like no one else cares.
“Before, things had felt all negative, but the Salvos lifted our spirits. It really helped knowing we were not alone, and that someone was thinking about us.
