1. Start with prayer
Before extending an invitation, pray for guidance and the right opportunity.
2. Be genuine and personal
Share why church is meaningful to you personally and avoid making it seem like you're trying to recruit them.
3. Keep it simple
A casual invitation can be effective, such as, "I've been enjoying our church recently, would you like to come with me sometime?" Then, offer details about service times, locations and what they can expect, such as, "We have a service on Sundays at 10.30am, and afterwards we often have morning tea together. You're welcome to join us!"
You can invite someone over the phone, by text message, by social media, in person or even with a handwritten note.
4. Be respectful
Respect their beliefs and decision if they decline your invitation.
5. Follow up
If they express interest, follow up with a reminder closer to the date, and be prepared to answer any questions they might have.
