Campsie

Our band

The Salvation Army Campsie has music at its core.

Campsie Salvation Army Band continues to play an important role in both the church and local community. With a current membership of around 10 players, the band provides music each Sunday during our church service.

Music is a powerful tool, and as we move forward, the band’s desire is to continue being a strong witness for Christ in our community. We’re exploring new ways to do this by introducing instruments beyond traditional brass. Today, our ensemble includes a number of woodwind players alongside our brass musicians. Our current Bandmaster, Glendon Hanna, is committed to teaching banding skills so that more people can join in and participate in our worship ensemble.

During the year, the band is involved in a variety of activities, including providing music at the remembrance service for the Campsie RSL Sub-branch. December is always a busy time as we participate in Christmas carol nights at local schools and within the community. A relatively new partnership with the South Pacific Brass Band has also created more opportunities, including a concert to raise funds for our annual youth camp, Equip.

Rehearsals are held on Sunday between 9.30–10am at the Campsie Salvation Army Church.
