Boost-a-Rama
Pick 1 child from the group (who hasn’t previously been chosen) and invite 3 people to say something nice about them or give some kind of encouragement. 1 leader to also give some encouragement.
Why? To help foster a positive peer community. By calling out the best in others, we cheer them on, encourage kindness and create a culture of belonging.
God Whispers Challenge
- Have children find a comfortable space and find their quiet.
- Say something like: “Let’s get ready for God’s Whisper Challenge! God is always speaking to us, and we want to listen closely. Find a calm spot, take a deep breath, and feel God’s peace rest upon you and rise within you. I’m going to give you one minute to sit or lie still with your eyes closed. During this time, pay attention to what you hear, what pictures come to your mind, the words that pop into your head, or any feelings you might sense. Remember, God says good things to us, so take special note of those! Don’t worry if you don’t sense anything—God’s love is always with us! If you feel like you hear something from God, gently put your finger on your nose (or another signal the leader chooses) and stay quiet and still until everyone is finished. Ready? Let’s begin in 3, 2, 1…”
- Watch until a couple of kids do the action (30-60 seconds) or before the group gets restless.
- Ask the group “Who would like to share what God whispered to you?” 2-4ish people to share, you may have to go first to get them started. Keep it short. Children’s will usually be short i.e. “that God loves me” or “God is with me.” Encourage them – and remember it will align with who we know God to be in the Bible.
Why? God speaks to everyone (no matter their age)! We want to teach children to recognise God’s voice for themselves and see what happens when we listen and obey!
Setup
- Setup a preschooler corner set up (I don't have enough leaders to separate).
- Always 2 adult leaders must be present with children.
- If you're unavailable for a date, please swap with someone. If you need help, please talk to Becky.
