Sometimes, as a volunteer, you need to be cool under pressure

3 January 2013

Sometimes, as a volunteer, you need to be cool under pressure

Have you ever had one of those mornings when it seems everything goes wrong? You lock your keys in the car, you forget your Kids Church lesson on the kitchen counter, and then you finally make it to church only to realize your socks don’t really match. And then . . . the kids arrive. What pressures of the morning may arise? You realize you don’t have any glue sticks and they’re necessary for one of your activities. Or Jack had a major “accident” and his parents neglected to notice. Or maybe Bec is in the corner crying because as she walked into church she eyed her ex-boyfriend holding hands with another girl.

Everyone has stuff they’re dealing with, even when they come to South Barwon. As a volunteer, you often become the crisis manager, the shoulder to cry on, or the clean-up crew. We know that at times you wear many hats, and have to stay cool under pressure—even when the stress may be something personal you’re going through.

We want you to know that South Barwon appreciates ALL that you do, and your abilities and willingness to stay calm and carry on in times of pressure. Be assured that we are here to support you—when times are calm and when you’re feeling under pressure!

Praying that this January you are able to wear less hats, and are recharging ready for the year ahead!

God bless!
