Our online discussion group Verge will be hosting an 8 week course commencing Tuesday June 11th, exploring what it means to be an apprentice of Jesus. The course is designed to help get you started on the journey of spiritual formation, help you get unstuck if you’ve stalled out, or just guide you into taking your next step. Ultimately, its goal is to train you to live as an apprentice of Jesus: to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did. New people are always welcome.

We live in an increasingly individualistic society, and even in our churches there are people who find themselves comfortably disconnected from their church communities and don’t feel any deep connection with their local church or other believers. This important series reminds us all why our local church matters, why gathering matters, and why coming together is vital for the Christian life.
We would love to help you connect and introduce you to some new faces, pray with you and help you find a place to belong. We are passionate about caring for people and creating faith pathways for people to explore life, faith and meaning together. Steph has been serving as an officer in both corps and the Community Engagement Department before being appointment to Merri-bek Salvos. Before officership she worked in Community Services with the Salvos and in various sales and people-facing roles. She is passionate about seeing people reaching their full potential and flourishing through the Gospel, and particularly loves getting out into community spaces as a representative of the love of Jesus. Steph has tertiary qualifications in theology and community services.
While a Kiwi by birth to Salvation Army Officer parents, she has lived in Australia for over 20 years. She has two wonderful adult girls, Georgia and Emma who live in Queensland. She is married to Stuart and along with him she lives with ‘King Louis’, a foxy x cattle dog whom she adores.
Before becoming a Salvation Army Officer, Alison worked in education. She was a high school teacher in outer suburban schools for 22 years and then worked as a senior policy and program officer with the Department of Education and RMIT. She started her officership as an Auxiliary Lieutenant at the Reservoir corps in 2017, before moving to Brunswick corps in 2019.
Alison loves walking alongside people and seeing them grow in confidence and faith as they learn more about Jesus. She also loves her son, Jack and her daughter in law, Sharissa. In her spare time she loves watching Bluey, knitting and drinking coffee.
