University of Divinity logo

Description

Explore an action-reflection model of learning while being active in an approved ministry placement or workplace. In this year-long unit, Reflective Practice for Vocational Formation, you will reflect on your experiences alone, with a pastoral supervisor and with your peers to learn more about the skills and competencies required for ministry, and to discover individual core values and vocational identity.

Level

Postgraduate Elective

Semester

Full Year 2027

Delivery Mode

Practicum

Dates

22 February - 29 October 2027

This is a practicum unit and is a single unit taught across two semesters. In addition to engaging with some learning and teaching materials asynchronously, you are expected to attend synchronous classes, workshops, and peer groups.

Synchronous class engagement includes introductory class, tutorials, workshops, peer groups and semester debrief. Synchronous session timings may be revised in consultation with class members at the commencement of semester 1.

Students are required to attend eight one-hour individual pastoral supervision sessions – dates to be determined in consultation with pastoral supervisor.

Students must complete a log of placement hours/activities.

Threshold requirement: As a practicum unit, fulfilment of all required engagement hours (132 hours for level 2 and 180 for level 8) is expected. Failure to complete the full complement of placement hours, pastoral supervision sessions, and peer group sessions puts the student at risk of failing the unit.

We recommend that you allocate 15 hours a week for all study activities.
