Description

Supervised Theological Field Education will give you the skills to engage deeply in your learning while participating in an approved ministry placement. You will be introduced to a variety of models for theological reflection, which will help you to reflect on your ministry placement and allow you to continue to develop the skills and knowledge that you need in ministry

Level

Postgraduate Elective

Semester

Full Year 2027

Delivery Mode

Practicum

Dates

22 February - 29 October 2027

This is a practicum unit and is a single unit taught across two semesters. In addition to engaging with some learning and teaching materials asynchronously, you are expected to attend synchronous classes, workshops, and peer groups.

Students should plan that synchronous class engagement and peer group engagement will take place on Fridays 11am-1pm (AEDT/AEST). Synchronous classes are not held every week but a full schedule for the year will be available in Week 0. Synchronous session timings may be revised in consultation with class members at the commencement of semester 1.

Students are required to attend eight one-hour individual pastoral supervision sessions – dates to be determined in consultation with pastoral supervisor.

Students must complete a log of placement hours/activities.

Threshold requirement: As a practicum unit, fulfilment of all required engagement hours (132 hours for level 3 and 180 for level 9) is expected. Failure to complete the full complement of placement hours, pastoral supervision sessions, and peer group sessions puts the student at risk of failing the unit.

We recommend that you allocate 15 hours a week for all study activities.
